Spring Statewide Meeting

The Spring 2009 Statewide Meeting took place on May 1st at the Hoagland-Pincus Conference
Center in Shrewsbury, MA from 9:00 am to 3:30 pm.   The meeting is intended for all who are
interested in diabetes education, prevention, diagnosis, and management in Massachusetts.  

How to Help Your Program and Patients Survive in Tough Economic Times is the theme for this
meeting.  You can learn, network with other professionals and earn valuable CEUs. Recognized
programs from the
2009 Programs of Excellence, awarded by DCOM, will present at the    
statewide meeting.  

As a result of participating in this conference, participants were able to:
• Describe 2 ways the medical home model can improve patient care
• Identify 3 ways that collaboration with key partners and stakeholders promotes systems-based
care and improves the quality of care provided to people with diabetes
• Discuss 3 practical strategies for promoting health through effective programming that
addresses the socioeconomic needs of people with diabetes
